Petey Surfs for Seniors & Forever Fosters
Petey surfs to raise awareness of WROC's Seniors, Forever Fosters & shelter dogs everywhere. And this year, Petey surfed in the HWAC Del Mar Surf-A-Thon to raise money for Olive’s life saving surgery.
WROC has the most fantastic adopters and supporters who have helped little Olive. Once again, a friend is offering a "MATCHING CHALLENGE" for our girl. This challenge is in honor of a WROC adoption anniversary, helping to pay it forward for another. She will match donations up to $1000 by end of day October 1. This is Olive. Petey is surfing to raise funds for her life saving surgery.
Surf Dog Petey is still working hard to raise funds for Olive’s care. She had her first surgery on September 3rd and we have more to do!
Animals are at the mercy of the world, and we knew Olive had a poor chance of making it out of the shelter. The person who brought her to the shelter claimed they found her wandering alone in a park. She was in a very rough condition and to ensure that she would receive the medical attention she needed, she was only available to rescue groups. She only had three days to make it out of the shelter due to her declining condition and sadly, euthanasia was on the table. With no other rescue group commitments, we brought her home.
Olive had terrible mats on her forepaws, mats hanging off her ears and a golf ball sized mat under her chin, which was huge for a 5-pound little girl. She was frightened, filthy, her nails were overgrown, and her coat is sparse. We gave her a few days to get acclimated with foster care and four days later, she had double hernia surgery, mammary tumors removed, and she was spayed. This was a difficult surgery for her, so when she recovers from this, we will address her dental needs and her skin condition. Stay tuned for updates.
