Adoptable Westies
Oliver
OLIVER UPDATE: Oliver is now up to 13 lbs! Best of all, his sweet personality is emerging and he gets so happy when his foster mom returns home from a short errand. He is becoming more vocal at meal time and is doing incredibly well with his potty training. His little paws are healing nicely too! We are so proud of him!
OLIVER’S STORY: We received a call from the shelter asking us to take in this little 10 lb diabetic, blind westie so that's just what we did. Our volunteer Christyne picked him up and when going through his records, discovered that this is Oliver! Christyne used to groom Oliver and his owner, who loved him dearly, trusted his care to a neighbor after she passed away. Within two years, Oliver's weight dropped more than half his normal body weight, his nails are horribly overgrown making it difficult to walk, his eyes are infected and he has open wounds on his feet. He has long gone without his insulin and proper care. Yesterday was the first of many vet appointments to completely evaluate and regulate his insulin.

Bear
BEAR UPDATE: Our little guy did well with his surgery and is now home resting. He lost 21 teeth and the mass was pushing his incisors out and his upper front teeth down. We don’t know if the mass originated from the bone or just invaded the bone, but the bone was eaten away. So now we wait for the biopsy to come back, but we can already see how much more comfortable he is. His remaining teeth were cleaned and polished and the difference is amazing. Surpringly, he wanted dinner and ate all of it with no problem. Bear is such a trooper and a very brave little champ.
BEAR’S Story: This little prince has made his way to WROC after we received a shelter plea that he is in desperate need of veterinary care. He has a fairly large mass which is protruding from his gums, interfering with eating. He is matted, dirty and has over grown nails. He has a mass on his right hip as well and he couldn't see very well with the hair over his eyes. We did a quick eye trim until we can get him bathed and groomed.
Ruby
Ruby Update: We have some great news! Ruby had a follow up appointment this morning with Dr. Steve and we've eradicated her ear infections! The icing on the cake is that we have vastly improved her tear production to 24 and 25 with Tacrolimus 1%. We are now only dealing with one bacteria on her skin, which was three when we first brought her to rescue. We will continue with the antibiotics for another two weeks and then will go back for a recheck. Ruby is also growing some hair! She has new hair sprouts on her feet and her face is now just beginning to fill in. We are so proud of our little girl. It is amazing how quickly things can evolve when one adds just a little bit of care and a whole lotta love.
Ruby’s Story: We received an email plea from the shelter for this sweet 17 year old that needed an exit plan. You know how we feel about seniors so we welcomed her to rescue today. Her new name is Ruby and she has a long road ahead of her. She spent the day with our wonderful vet and she is now home resting. She is full of yeast & bacteria, her ears are infected and she has dry eye. After a warm medicated bath, ear flush, meds and a potty break, she is now resting comfortably. She may be blind and deaf but we will do all we can to give her quality of life and lots of love.
