WROC’s Forever Fosters

Sometimes when we bring a senior dog into our care, we find out they have a life threatening medical condition.  They are not available for adoption for a variety of reasons; some have constant medical needs and some are in the final stages of illness.   In our Forever Fosters program, we provide Hospice sponsored care and lots of love for these dogs for the rest of their lives.

You can make a huge difference by being a part of this program by sponsoring one of our wonderful senior dogs.  Your contribution provides food and ongoing medical care.  Without sponsors like you, WROC could not continue its mission of protecting and caring for old dogs that cannot be adopted.

We cater to all Westies and it is no secret that our seniors are a driving force behind our rescue, but it is not just seniors that need end of life care.  We are not heroes, and we do not do this work to hear accolades.  We do this to bring a little kindness to the world.  We do it because our animals need to know love and be loved.  With the growing population of abandoned pets, we need and welcome foster homes to help us open our arms even wider so no animal goes without the love and care they need.

Your one time or monthly donation will help us take care of our seniors and medically challenged dogs. If you care, please share!

Petunia

Petunia…This sweet little lady was relinquished to a shelter because she was sick.  Petunia was in tremendous pain, would not eat, drink and our vet was unable to examine her mouth, and her blood work was not good. To our surprise, Petunia had at least 100 foxtails imbedded in her mouth. All were removed as well as 30 teeth.  This little lady is a survivor and we are so thankful she is with WROC. Petunia is now a WROC Forever Foster & will be staying with Diana. She will be well cared for by WROC for the rest of her life. She is happy and thankful for her forever home.

Maverick

Maverick lost his home when his owner had to go into assisted living. Maverick is well behaved, gentle and beautiful! He was diagnosed with Cushings Disease. which results when the body produces too much of a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol is produced and stored by the adrenals, two small glands that sit on top of the kidneys. It took us almost a year to get him stable. So we decided the best thing for Maverick was to become a WROC forever foster. Maverick lives with Wendy & he loves his food, riding in the car, walks in the park and going to the beach.

Herbert

Herbert…Our Forever Foster program brought 12-year-old Herbert to WROC. Herbert was in rescue in another state for 1.5 years with no interest, most likely because of his advanced age and multiple health issues. Herbert lost 80% of his eyesight due to untreated infections, has chronic skin problems, hip, knees, and back issues. We felt it was in Herbert’s best interest to bring him to WROC where he would get everything he needs to live out his life comfortably. So we reached out to the rescue and they agreed that Herbert needed his own home. We flew to Texas and picked him up!

Tinkerbelle

Tinkerbelle…What a difference 9 months can make. Tink had her follow up appointment with the dermatologist specialist and though she looks beautiful, we are still battling yeast. We will continue with her medicated baths 3-4 times a week, special diet, change up her medications and retest in a month.

Tink will need lifelong skin maintenance, as she can go backwards fast if we don’t stay on top of it. She has come a long way and will be staying with WROC as a Forever Foster.

Jack Beanstalk

Jack…Jack’s only requirement is a lap to snuggle on. He loves gentle face massages and sweet kisses and LOVES to be groomed. He is in great health and has so much love to give. He is blind, yet moves around great with a spring in his step. He was found wandering the busy streets of LA all alone. His mouth was riddled with foxtails so most of his teeth were extracted. Jack is the sweetest, most gentle little man ever. He has excellent hearing & his sense of smell is even better. He loves going for walks & stops to smell the flowers. For all of these reasons, WROC welcomes Jack as a Forever Foster.

Gibbs

Gibbs…made himself right at home with WROC. He is happy & content, so we made an easy decision that he remain with us as a Forever Foster. We love you Gibbs! He was in the shelter for almost 30 days. No one came for this senior boy & his time at the shelter was growing short, so WROC brought him home. He is a Schnauzer/Poodle mix, approximately 12-13 years old, 16 pounds, current on his shots & microchipped. He eyesight is somewhat diminished, but he gets around great. He adores his food & enjoys walks in the park. He is spunky and will dance for his treats.

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord for a home to keep
If a family is found before I wake
I hope they see I am a keepsake
My bones may ache and my ears don’t hear
But I’m not scared, I have no fear
Angels watch me through the night
And wake me with the morning light
As I wait for a new home to be found
I am loved, cared for, safe and sound
