Teddy Bear, Adopted Dec 2020
WROC's Phoebe & Petey love Teddy and insisted that he stay in the family, so this adorable little boy is adopted by Kay, Rex, Petey, Phoebe & Dan. Welcome to the WROC family Teddy Bear!
TEDDY BEAR'S ORIGINAL STORY: Teddy was purchased by a senior couple, along with his brother, Dewey. They quickly discovered that 2 puppies were way too much for them and they were distressed that the puppies were biters, one had a cough and both had parasitic infections. When they called, our volunteer drove several hours the next day to pick them up. What puppies aren't "biters", right? The cough is gone and we are working on the infection.

After a little coaxing and some very delicious treats, I hopped into my foster Mom's car and was off to a new adventure. I love squeaky toys and nylabones and cuddlng on the couch. I am learning about leash, crate, & house training and doing quite well. I still get scared, but I warm up quickly. I would love my own family. If you are patient and teach me about the world, I will give you my heart forever.

Kris Kringle, Adopted Mar 2020
Our friend, Jeanne, generously offered to foster Kris. After only 1 day, she let us know that Kris Kringle would be staying with her in his forever home. We are thrilled for both of them. He is happily snuggling and getting lots of pets.
KRIS KRINGLE'S ORIGINAL STORY: Our boy has made an amazing recovery. He is a happy little guy who loves his food and his walks. He discovered soft toys and found them delightful to squeak. He will roll over and show you his belly for petting. Kris was wasting away in a county shelter. His eyes were glued shut from discharge, he was in dire need of a dental, & he had mats the size of golf balls with sticks & twigs tangled in his hair. It was no surprise that his owner did not come for him. As soon as he was available, we pulled him from the shelter. Over the course of several days, Kris was neutered, he had a dental & a benign lump was removed. He is now being treated for dry eye. Kris is a Cairn Terrier. He is approximately 12 years old, 13 pounds, his shots are current, & he is microchipped.

ROWDY'S ORIGINAL STORY: My new name is Rowdy and I am a Cairn mix. It was the weekend after new years and I found myself in a county shelter. My owner did not come for me and I was sad. It seemed like no one was looking for a new family member. But WROC saw me and busted me out. I was so happy I could not contain myself and I smiled and wiggled all the way home. I am just adorable at 5 years old and 14 pounds. I love everything in my foster home, walking, playing, & eating good food. I had a trip to salon and I am stunning! I am a very sweet and loving little doggie. I love to sit next to you and cuddle. So if you have a really good lap, I will be more than happy to sit in it! XOXO Rowdy
Gibbs, Forever Foster Jan 2020
It turned out that our Gibbs has neurological issues. He still loves his food, short walks, and being held like a baby. Because of his special needs, Gibbs will spend the rest of his time with WROC. He will be given the very best care thanks to the generosity of our supporters.
GIBBS' ORIGINAL STORY: Gibbs was running on a really busy 4 lane highway for 2 days before the shelter was able to pick him up. He was exhausted and would not move. Within the hour, they thought he would not make it and they rushed him to their vet. After many medications, gentle care, and a major haircut, Gibbs slowly began to recover. One of WROC's supporters saw Gibbs and let us know about him.
Shelter staff felt like he would be better off with WROC, so they sent him home with a huge bag of food, canned food, comprehensive medical records & his very own harness.
Phoebe, Adopted January 2020
Phoebe was 9 months old and only weighed 6 pounds. She was wasting away until it was discovered that she has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency). An EPI dog's pancreas does not secrete digestive enzymes and when these enzymes are not available, the body is unable to absorb nutrients and goes into starvation mode. The good news is with correct diagnosis and treatment, EPI can be successfully managed.
We are happy to report that Phoebe is up to 12 pounds. She is eating 3 meals a day and she is a little spitfire. She plays happily with other dogs, her toys & her people. She is joining Petey in the WROC household and dreaming of being a Beach Baby.
