ADOPTING FROM WROC

Thank you for considering adopting a future family member from us. Adopting a rescue is one of the most loving gifts you can give to animal friends. WROC rescues Westies in crisis situations that were neglected, abandoned, abused, or wandering the streets. We also receive owner surrenders due to various reasons, arrival of a baby, a divorce, employment status, health issues within the family or dog, or a death in the family.

All Westies that come into our program are placed in foster care with dedicated volunteers for evaluation, vet care including all vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchip and treatment for any illness if necessary. We never board our dogs. We treat all Westies that come into our care as long as the animal is not suffering. Due to the never ending vet bills, our adoption donation is $350.00 - $750.00. This donation allows us to continue our work, saving the lives of forgotten Westies.

Our rescues are evaluated by their foster home over a 2 -4 week period which help us determine what type of home would best suit the Westie. Our foster families crate train, house train, and socialize the fostered Westie. When we place a rescue, we try to do everything we can to make this transition their very last. We share our observations while the Westie was in our care with the potential adoptive family to educate and prepare the new family for the arrival of their newest family member.

When a Westie is placed into Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond's rescue program, we review all our pending applications to assess the best match for the Westie. Our primary goal is to place the Westie in the best environment for that particular dog's background, personality and needs. If you would like to pursue adoption, our application is the first step to start the process. We will contact you and begin the process once we determine that a Westie would be a good match for you and your family.

We take particular care in placing our Westies. Our screening process includes an application, reference checks, interview and a home visit to ensure the home and family is compatible with the pet’s needs and our requirements. To complete the adoption process, we have a "meet and greet" with the new family including all family members and pets. We request owners to sign a contract obliging them to contact us if they cannot provide for the animal for any reason.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not charge for an adoption application and we do not ship our dogs.

We do get many more applications than we get dogs. We keep all applications on file and only call those applicants that fit the dog's profile. This process can take a week to several months as rescue is unpredictable.
