2023 Adoptions

Ginger, Adopted December 2023

I was adopted by Paige & her Mom Sarah. Cricket is my new Schnauzer sister. My life has changed so much for the better. I now have an extended family that loves and wants me. They promised they will always take good care of me. XOXO Ginger

GINGER’S ORIGINAL STORY: Ginger is a 5 year old, 20 pound, spayed Schnauzer. She lost her owner and the family did not want her and was anxious to move her out.  All too often, owners do not have a plan in place for their treasured pets and she may have ended up in the shelter if we did not step in. Ginger had not seen a vet in a very long time so ending up in rescue was a blessing for her.   Ginger loves her walks and loves to explore.  She is a great companion and enjoys sitting next to you on the couch.

Abby, Adopted December 2023

I was adopted & am adored by Lisa. I am joining Westie Oliver, Dougie, Penny, & Chili in this dog loving household. I will never have to worry about losing my home again because Mom promised she always has a plan for all of us! XO Abby

ABBY’S ORIGINAL STORY: Abby is a 13 year old, 17 pound, spayed Westie.  She lost her owner and the family did not want her and was anxious to move her out.  All too often, owners do not have a plan in place for their treasured pets and she may have ended up in the shelter if we did not step in. This would have been devastating for her since she is diabetic and needs to take insulin twice a day. She was in desperate need of veterinary attention so we took care of all her medical issues.   She is very active, inquisitive and now that she is with rescue, she is a very happy little girl.

Pixie, now Sammie, Adopted Dec 2023

Our special Pixie girl, now Sammie, found her new forever home with Jackie, just in time for Christmas. We couldn’t be happier that she has such a dedicated mom that is so good about keeping her on her skin regime schedule. She is being spoiled as every little girl should be. Congratulations Sammie & Jackie!

PIXIE’S ORIGINAL STORY: 3 weeks makes a such a difference! Pixie is now getting baths every other day and her skin is healing nicely & her ears are turning pink too. She is 9 years old, shots are current, and she is spayed. Now that she’s feeling better, her darling personality is showing. She comes to work often and is a perfect work companion. MADISON’S ORIGINAL STORY: Madison was wasting away at the county shelter, very scared & knots, sticks and burrs in her hair. As soon as she was available, WROC rushed to save her. Madison is a Schnauzer Westie mix, 3-5 years old, 16 pounds, spayed, & her shots are current. She is very loving little girl & she is crate, house & leash trained. She is looking for a home that will never lose her again..

I joined Beans the Frenchie, Stewie & Jocelyne and Eldon.  We have a great life & go for walks every morning. We have a huge backyard to create all the chaos 3 young dogs can create!

WALLY’S ORIGINAL STORY: A good Samaritan found Wally roaming the streets and after several weeks of trying to locate his owner unsuccessfully, he came to rescue.  Wally is super playful with the other dogs in foster care.  Wally is housetrained & can be stubborn and he is no stranger to manipulation so Wally needs an experienced owner that sets boundaries and is consistent with his training.

We have the best news. We are staying together with John & Mark. They are the very best dog parents. We have our morning walk, squirrel watching, playtime & lots of relaxing. We love them very much. Jake & Liza, formerly Wilson & Luna

LEIA & LUKE’S ORIGINAL STORY:. 4 month old, 7 pound female & male terrier mix puppies, absolutely adorable and sweet. Leia & Luke were being kept in a crate outside. They were at risk of the heat and coyotes. A concerned neighbor took possession of the dogs, took them to the vet, and brought them to us within a matter of days. What a wonderful person. They are playing, wrestling, hugging, kissing puppies.

Tag & Lilly, Adopted June 2023

Rescue moments such as this one make it so worthwhile. Longtime supporter, Vicki, has adopted our dynamic duo and bonded pair, Tag and Lilly. Congratulations Vicki

TAGG & LILY’S ORIGINAL STORY: Tag and Lilly are a 14.5 year old female & a 9 year male. These two sweethearts were well loved on for many years.  Unfortunately their owner could no longer care for them so they reached out to WROC and we happily took them in.

They are a bonded pair and will be adopted together.  They are sweet and calm dogs that just want a lap to sit on and several walks a day.

Trixie, Adopted June 2023

Great news, Trixie has a new family that adores her. Thank you Donna & Danny for loving this little girl as much as we do. A special thank you to our supporters & Surf Dog Petey who raised funds for Trixie’s life saving pacemaker surgery. We could not be happier for this little Westie princess!

TRIXIE’S ORIGINAL STORY: This makes us very sad. Her family adopted her when she was 6-7 years old, the kids were young, and the family loved playing and caring for her. As Trixie grew older, the family had less time for her. She was banished to a crate in the garage at night. The harsh decision was made that they no longer wanted Trixie so she was returned to rescue. She was so lonely and starved for attention when she arrived, but now she enjoys walks in the park, great food, lots of attention, AND she no longer sleeps in the garage. Trixie is 13 years old, 12 pounds, spayed, her shots are current.

Leo, Adopted August 2023

I was adopted by my new Mom, Rachel. I love her and this is what she has to say about me.. “Happy birthday to me! It felt like the right time to open my heart to a little angel. Welcome home, Leo! I am so happy to have you.”

LEO’S ORIGINAL STORY: Leo’s owner could no longer care for him & asked if we would find him a great new home. Of course we said yes. He is a gorgeous 7 1/2 year old, 16 pound Westie. He was just neutered this week so we are working on his house, leash & crate training. Leo would like a Westie savvy family who will adore him and l continue his training. Leo had a makeover. He was great looking before, but he is gorgeous now. Thank you Joy for such a fabulous grooming!

Macy, Adopted May 2023

I was adopted by Melodee. She is just perfect for me. We spend lots of time together and I love having all of the attention. I am a very happy girl. XOXO Macy

MACY’S ORIGINAL STORY: Macy was was picked up by animal control. She was adopted but the adopter changed her mind. WROC could not let her stay in the shelter another day, so we brought this tiny little girl home. She is about 1 year old, and only 8 pounds. She is such a happy little girl, a bundle of energy and loves to play She is spayed, microchipped, and her shots are current.

Artie, Adopted May 2023

Artie has his forever home with his new Mom Karen, who says they are like 2 peas in a pod. They are perfectly happy and chilled together.

ARTIE’S ORIGINAL STORY: Meet Artie. Sadly, Artie.he had been with the shelter for a few weeks and his owners kept saying they'd be there to get him but they never came for him. They reached out to us because he has a growth on his face and needs a dental badly but more importantly they know we will find him the right home where he won't end up on the streets again. Artie wasn't feeling well when he first came in but now that he is on the mend, playing with the other dogs and toys,

Scout, Adopted June 2023

Scout never has to worry about losing his home ever again. He found his perfect match with Michael and he promised lots of family outings and boat rides with his new pal Scout. We love days like this! Congratulations Scout and Michael!

SCOUT’S ORIGINAL STORY: This gorgeous boy was relinquished to the shelter by his owner, he was adopted him, only to be returned the next day. So off we went to pick him up and bring him home. As it turns out, the only issues that 9 year old Scout has is the need for a dental, mild dry eye, a good bath, grooming and a request to sleep in the big bed. And monkey toys! Welcome to rescue, Scout

I was adopted by Eri & Jason. They are the best Mom & Dad. I am really happy & I follow them everywhere. I now have my very own sweet family. XOXO Gracie

GRACIE’S ORIGINAL STORY: Gracie was found wandering the streets and was picked up by animal control. She was matted & dirty but she patiently waited for someone to come for her, but no one did. WROC could not let her stay in the shelter another day, so we brought this gentle soul home. Gracie is approximately 1 1/2 years old, 12 pounds, and perhaps a Maltese/Westie mix. She would like a family who will spend a lot of time with her to teach her all about her new world. She is spayed, microchipped, and her shots are current.

Our two pint size trouble makers, Tilly and Benny, found their best forever home with Brent and Libby. These two became best friends while in foster care & we are thrilled that they were adopted together! Thank you Brent & Libby.

Chase, Forever Fostered May 2023

Our sweet Chase has many medical issues, so we made the easy decision for him to become a Forever Foster with WROC. He will receive special care and lots of love.

CHASE’S ORIGINAL STORY: This special little man found himself in a shelter at a delicate age. We are guessing he is 14+ years. We swooped him up and brought him directly to the vet where he received the works and the girls there fell in love with him. Not hard to do because he is so handsome! He was so cooperative and equally sweet once we brought him home for his bath and trim. Chase will have his dental next week once we get his bloodwork back but until then, he will get lots of love and attention. Welcome to rescue Chase!

Jack Beanstalk, Forever Fostered March 2023

Jack’s only requirement is a lap to snuggle on. He loves gentle face massages and sweet kisses and LOVES to be groomed. He is an angel when getting his baths, he is in great health and has so much love to give. For all of these reasons, WROC welcomes Jack as a Forever Foster.

JACK’S ORIGINAL STORY: Jack Beanstalk is a 15+, 9 pound poodle mix, but he does not act like a senior. He is completely blind, yet he moves around great and has a spring in his step. He was found wandering the busy streets of LA all alone. His mouth was riddled with foxtails so most of his teeth were extracted. Jack is the sweetest, most gentle little man ever. He has excellent hearing & his sense of smell is even better. He loves going for walks & stops to smell the flowers.

Cody, Adopted March 2023

My new Mom, Patricia, drove a long way because she knew I was meant to be a part of her family. I am joining Markito, Mari, & Alfie (who was camera shy). I prance happily on my walks and am good on a leash. I am approx 10 years old, 18 pounds, neutered, microchipped & shots are current.

Shayna, Adopted March 2023

I was adopted by Mom & Dad, Jill & Dave, and my new Westie sister Hailey. My happy tail has not stopped thumping for a moment, so many toys, so much love. XOXO Shayna

SHAYNA’S ORIGINAL STORY: The shelters were so over-crowded that March 31 was her last day. We just could not let that happen, so we raced to the shelter and saved this sweet girl. She was turned in because she was overweight. She was a perfect angel for her bath and took a nap during her blow dry. She patiently let us work out her mats and gave no fuss with nail clipping. She is as sweet as can be! She quickly chose a bed and is now resting after a very eventful day. Welcome to rescue Shayna, we are so happy you are here. She is 90% Westie, 8-9 years, 24 pounds.

Sunni, Adopted February 2023

When my new Mom, Kristine, first saw me, her eyes glistened with tears, and she said “you are perfect”. I think she is perfect too & I will be the best girl for her. We are really happy together. XOXO Sunni

SUNNI’S ORIGINAL STORY: Sunni is a darling 6 year old Westie girl. She is the youngest of the 3 girls who were taken by animal control because her Dad passed away and her Mom went into a nursing home. As soon as they were available to rescue, WROC scooped them up. Sunni is a sassy & active little girl who loves affection. She walks well on a leash, loves the outdoors, & likes to cuddle on the couch. Her shots are current, she is microchipped & spayed.

SAMI & SUSIE’S ORGINAL STORY: Sami is a lovely 13 year old & Susie is a very pretty 8 year old. Sami is the matriarch & Susie is the middle age of the 3 girls who were taken by animal control because their Dad passed away and their Mom went into a nursing home. As soon as they were available to rescue, WROC scooped them up. Sami enjoys the fresh air, new sights, belly rubs, & napping on the couch. Susie loves attention & is a great walking buddy. Their shots are current, they are microchipped & spayed

Stewie, Adopted March 2023

I found the best home ever with Beans the Frenchie and Jocelyne and Eldon.  We go for walks every morning and we have a huge backyard to create all the chaos two young dogs can create!  Thank you Betze and Barbara for helping me along the way.

STEWIE’S ORIGINAL STORY: Stewie is approximately 2 years, neutered, microchipped and up to date with his vaccinations. He is an adorable westie mix with the sweetest deposition and loves to be loved.  He gets along beautifully with everyone and especially loves having a lap to sit on while watching TV. He offers up kisses when asked and though there are lots of toys he has yet to take interest in them.   He walks well on a leash, tail wagging all the way.

Gibbs, Forever Fostered January 2023

Gibbs made himself right at home with WROC. He is happy & content, so we made an easy decision that he remain with us as a Forever Foster. We love you Gibbs!

GIBB’S ORIGINAL STORY: Gibbs was in the shelter for almost 30 days. No one came for this senior boy & his time at the shelter was growing short, so WROC brought him home. He is a Schnauzer mix, approximately 12-13 years old, 16 pounds, current on his shots & microchipped. He eyesight is somewhat diminished, but he gets around great. He adores his food & enjoys walks in the park. He is spunky and will dance for his treats. If you have room in your heart for this sweet senior, please let us know.

Trixie, Adopted February 2023

I found my family, Mom Nicole & Dad Kevin and I got 2 great kids, Noah & Kensley. I am getting so much love and attention & I could not be happier. Fairy “tail” ending. XOXO Trixie

TRIXIE’S ORIGINAL STORY: Trixie’s story is heartbreaking. A little 8 year old girl was standing in front of a grocery store with her little dog, Trixie. She said her parents did not want the dog and it was up to her to “get rid of her”. With tears in her eyes, she asked everyone who walked by if they would take her dog. Fate prevailed and a friend of WROC walked by. She promised the little girl that we would take care of Trixie & find a great home. Trixie is a terrier mix, maybe Cairn, 1 year old, & 11 pounds. She is full of fun and boundless energy.

Andrew, Adopted February 2023

I was adopted by Justine, Michael & Grace. He’s not in my pic but I am joining Westie Mackie in this over the top Westie family. So excited for this new chapter in my life. XOXO Andy

ANDREW’S ORIGINAL STORY: My family was moving and could not take me with them. I am a lucky boy because they called WROC & they came for me right away. I happily settled right in with my foster family & am awaiting my next big adventure. I am 5 years old, just neutered, my shots are current, and I am microchipped. I am a very sweet boy who loves other dogs and people. I am waiting for the perfect family for perfect little me!

Duffy, Forever Fostered January 2023

Duffy came to rescue last November. The day after Christmas, Duffy collapsed and took a very long time to regain consciousness. The emergency clinic could not find a diagnosis. He then saw the cardiologist & wore a holter heart monitor for 24 hours & was diagnosed with Sick Sinus Syndrome, which means the sinus node has lapses (beats much too slowly, or not at all).

Duffy also has Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a slow-progressing cancer of lymphocytes, & he has dry eye. For these reasons and due to his advanced age, Duffy will stay with WROC permanently. Duffy is comfortable and loves life. And that’s all that matters.

Tucker, Adopted January 2023

I was adopted by Fatima & Steve & Westie Bear. They are just perfect for me. Mom writes: “Tucker is awesome. He slept on the big bed and is still exploring every corner. He loves his toys & Bear! He acts like he has always lived here”.

TUCKER’S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Tucker and I arrived at WROC on Christmas Eve. I am a 2 year old, 18 pound Westie boy. I love to go on long walks, playing with my squeaky toys, and meeting other dogs (I really like the girls) & people. I have lots of puppy energy, but I also have a sweet, calm demeanor. I am leash & crate trained, neutered, microchipped, & my shots are current. I am looking for an active home with someone who can spend lots of time with me. XO Tucker

Jasmine, now Jazzie, Adopted January 2023

Jazzie is thrilled with her new family, Fletcher & John. Mom writes: “She is full of pep and always ready for a new adventure! Welcome to the family little girl!”

JASMINE’S ORIGINAL STORY: It is a sad one. She is 14 years old, her Dad passed away & her Mom had to go into assisted living. The immediate family did not want her, but the home health care nurse cared enough to keep coming over to feed Jassie in between her jobs. She would cry when the nurse came in to feed her because she was so lonely. But things changed when the nurse called WROC. She is now getting lots of attention, proper vet care, good meals, and exercise. This is a lovely dog looking for a lovely family to love her.
