Brittney, Adopted December 2010
I was very picky about choosing my new family and I turned down quite a few. I knew that if I was patient, the right family would come. And then Frank and Andrea arrived on a stormy December day. I instantly knew they were my new Mom & Dad. I jumped into my new Mom's arms and gave her kisses because I really wanted to impress her. With tears in her eyes, she hugged me and kissed me back. Mom & Dad told me that everything was going to be great - I was going to my forever home. They were so right. Life is wonderful with my new family and my Westie brother, Merlin. This is the best holiday gift ever. Lots of happy and grateful kisses, Britt
BRITTNEY'S ORIGINAL STORY: I am a 3 year old, 14 pound, spayed and microchipped Westie girl. I am the sweetest girl you could ever hope to find.I really like long walks and riding in the car. My favorite place is next to you on the couch or snuggled up in the big bed. I am quiet as a mouse so I get to stay all night. I am not shy as some people might think but I am reserved, reflective, thoughtful, a dreamer and a deep thinker. My friendships are based on quality not quantity and once I get to know you I promise I will love you forever and there will never be a day of regret. Are you waiting for a Westie princess? XOXO Brittney

Watson, Adopted December 2010 - Another Senior Saved!

UPDATE FROM WATSON'S MOM: Watson is doing great. He has put on some weight and his fur and skin are doing much better. I think that his broken heart has mended. He behaves very well and loves to be with us everywhere we go. Thanks again for everything. Live Long and Prosper, Jeanne
Watson's story was a very sad one. He was abandoned by his owner to be euthanized, but fortunately,he was sent by a caring vet to a shelter very close to WROC. Because he was 10 years old and suffering from neglect, there was very little interest in him.
WROC discovered this adorable little boy and knew that he needed a helping hand. We found a fantastic adopter and are so happy that we facilitated Jeanne and Rick meeting Watson at the shelter and adopting him. We are thrilled that another senior has found a forever home. Thank you Jeanne & Rick for giving Watson a second chance on a wonderful life!!!

Dear WROC, Winnie knows she is safe and secure here and she gets a lot of love. Her favorite spot in the living room is on top of a pillow on the big chair facing the door. That is a logical place forher to like since it lets her observe what is going on and see if anyone is coming through the door. She seems very calm and happy here. I am sure that Winnie knows that WROC really rescued her and taught her about love. Whenever we say I love you Winnie she responds immediately, happy and tail wagging. Love & Light, Gerry & Winnie
WINNIE'S ORIGINAL STORY: Now that my skin has completely healed and I now have a beautiful and full coat, I am ready for my surgery. I am gettting my front leg fixed!! See, my front leg turns out 90 degrees and it was confirmed a break at the joint took place a few years ago. WROC's orthopedic surgeon says that I am a perfect candidate for this complicated surgery and it will allow me to walk on the pad of my foot and move around the dog park at the speed I see fit. My foster Mom says that I have a real zest for life and my spunky and determined attitude will have me healed in no time. The only challenge they are facing is keeping me off my favorite spot on the back of the sofa! I am very excited, but I will need to stay here a bit longer to complete my recovery.
My name is Winnie and my folks turned me over to Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond so I can get the medical help that I need. I am being fostered with one of WROC's skin specialists, the one that performed miracles on Boo (see our ABOUT US page). RUDY UPDATE: Look at me - I am one happy healthy Westie. I have the most gorgeous coat and the sweetest personality ever. I am ready for my forever family now! Hope to hear from you soon.
RUDY'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Rudy and I had a very tough week. My owners of the past 8-9 years dumped me at a shelter. They said they did not have the money to take care of me anymore. It was frightening being in that little concrete cell after having been a house pet for all those years. I was a good doggie and I just could not understand what I did to deserve this. I was so upset that I barked myself hoarse, but then a miracle happened...turns out the shelter personnel thought I was very special, so they called WROC and my life changed again. I am clean and pretty again, my shots are all updated, and I have a microchip. I have been to the vet and have been given a clean bill of health. My foster Mom says that I am a wonderful Westie who loves walks in the park, having my ears rubbed, snuggling on the couch, and I LOVE this Westie Diet, especially Highlander Hash!! I will be ready for adoption soon, but this time, I really want a home FOREVER! If there is room in your home and heart for me, please send in your application. Patiently waiting, Rudy
As you know WROC is dedicated to saving the lives of forgotten West Highland White Terriers and we support a no kill philosophy. When we were called upon to rescue the Fortunate Fifteen, we were presented with two pregnant females. The Moms in our care gave birth to puppies, one and two weeks respectively after we rescued them. Here are the miracle puppies and their new families:

Bonnie Blue, now Coco, Adopted by Katherine & William. Cooper is her new brother!!

Kelly, now Billy, Adopted by Jody & David. Mrs Beasley is his new Westie sister.
Polly Purple, now Bonney, Adopted by Debbie & Bill. Stewey is her new Westie brother.

Pinkie Lee, now Winnie, Adopted by Debbie & David

Jenna Jade, Adopted by Christine

Kayleigh, Adopted by Kim & Daniel
WESTIE RESCUE OF ORANGE COUNTY'S STORY OF THE FORTUNATE FIFTEEN:
Fifteen Westies were discarded by a puppy mill breeder. When Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond was contacted, we mobilized our extensive California network of family, friends, adopters, and supporters. Within hours WROC had a plan in place and temporary foster homes for all 15 dogs.

The Fortunate Fifteen - the journey begins
The Fortunate Fifteen's journey began early morning. The Westies were brought to WROC where our wonderful network began medicated baths and grooming, preparing all Westies for their foster families. By that evening, all 15 were happily enjoying their first meal in their new foster homes.

Trooper, Adopted June 2010

Thank you WROC for giving me back a happy life, but even more for finding my Mom, Glennis, for me. She waited all that time while I recuperated and she only wanted me! She jumped through hoops to make her home ready for me. She built a fence, waited patiently, and drove a long way to meet me. I made her happy again and I just love her to pieces. XOXO Trooper
Note from WROC: The story of Trooper and Glennis is why we rescue - these two were meant for each other.
TROOPER'S ORIGINAL STORY: There is an old adage that goes, “when one door closes, another door opens.” When I first arrived, I held my head low and I was confused. I was unsure of myself and I didn't know where I belonged. I was underweight and every bone in my body protruded through my skin which was intensified because I had no hair. I even lost all the hair on my muzzle. I spent the first few weeks sleeping and never made a sound. I would cower when approached and would become stiff when I was picked up. I went to the park every day and would just stand still, watching all the other dogs play and chase each other. When a dog would come near, I ran away in fear. I did not understand.
But all of that now seems like a lifetime ago. When WROC opened their door, my life changed in so many ways that I could have never imagined. I received so many things; a full wardrobe as my skin healed, hearty meals twice a day, veterinarian care, but most important...time. I am no longer a skinny dog with no hair. I am incredibly handsome actually, and I get better looking each day. Cowering or avoiding my canine friends at the park is a thing of the past. Chasing cute females is my all time favorite activity and car rides are for taking me to places that I love. Toys are to play with and a good game of tug-o-war is on the top of my list. I love to chase balls and I will never pass off a treat. I have learned how to tell 'time' too! Every day I perform a side step tap dance and belt out a few muffled barks when it is time for breakfast and dinner. I hold my head high, I will sit in your lap for hours if you let me, I will snuggle up to you at night and sleep peacefully because I know I am cared for and safe. I am confident, happy, gentle and will kiss you any chance I get. I have learned a lot of things here. I have learned that love, patience and a gentle hand are things I deserve. A new door has opened. It is truly a dogs life now!
Enzo, now Martini, Adopted May 2010

Don't you like my new name? Martini!! WROC found John & Jana just for me. They are such a great family - they love me unconditionally and I love them right back. We are a perfect match. Thank you WROC from the bottom of my big Westie heart!! Hugs & Kisses, Martini
ENZO'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Enzo. My life as a breeding dog was not a good one, but things are looking up now that I am with WROC. I have been neutered, microchipped and I am current on all my shots. I am living the good life with the resident Westies, Cairns & Scotties. My foster family just LOVES terriers! I was a little shy at first, but I am coming into my own very nicely. I now have a routine, am eating well and I get lots of hugs and kisses. I am beginning to feel loved and secure, so my new family must be generous with their hugs & kisses too! Love Enzo

Rowdy, Adopted May 2010
Hi everyone, I would like to introduce you to my new best friend, Seth. He is just about the best person I have ever met. He understands all about my rehab and is patient and willing to help me completely heal. I am so happy that WROC found a perfect person for me. When I got to my new home, I found 5 brand new tennis balls, all different colors, waiting for me. Yipee, life could not be any better!! Westie Love Forever, Rowdy
Rowdy UPDATE: You may have noticed that I have been on the Adoptable List for quite some time now and let me tell you, I have quite a story. I was adopted, but I broke my front leg playing with my most favorite ball. The adopters doubted my vet's expertise and decided my recovery was too much trouble for them so they returned me to WROC. Sad, but everything always works out for the best. I had surgery on my leg, including a bone graft. The vet says that my bone was broken sometime before I came to California and never taken care of
properly. But now with WROC's care, I am well on my way to recovery. My foster Mom says that I have been a real trooper and that I will make some lucky family a wonderful pet. I am happy go lucky and full of life - nothing gets me down!!! So if you have room in your heart for a pup like me, send in your application. I am almost ready to go home. Warm Westie Kisses, Rowdy
PS I still LOVE my ball!!!
Rowdy's Original Story: You’ve probably heard that WROC moved mountains for a very lucky senior boy, Perry…but as it turns out they fly over mountains too!!! I hear that I am one lucky westie rescue who just flew into California on my very own private plane; WESTIE AIR with my very own pilots, Alan and Barbara. I didn’t know that “first class” travel meant sitting on Barbara’s lap! They told me that Uncle Dave was ready to jump in his jeep and make a very long road trip just for me. I am really liking California , and Uncle Dave…I’m holding out on my best Westie kiss just for you!
They figure I am between 3-4 years of age, and I am a small Westie at about 14 pounds. I have recently been neutered, have all my shots, and dental done too. I have been cut really short, but my hair will grow out and I am looking forward to the beauty salon makeover. I am full of energy, and prefer to have a family that loves walks and has lots of time to play with me. I am a fun little dude! And I love my new Westie Diet - especially that Highlander Hash. I need a little more time at my foster home, but I am ready to read your applications. Are you the right family for me? XOXO Rowdy, because boys love to have fun

COCO'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi there, my new name is Coco. Wow, how my life has changed! I am a 4 month old female, spayed, micro-chipped, and all my shots are current. Now I sit with the Westie gang and happily eat my treats. I am no longer afraid and I go shopping with Mom and everyone I meet just loves me. I am a very adorable Westie puppy. I have learned to walk on a leash and am working on my house training. I sleep well in my crate at night. I have a great time with all the toys here and I love to explore the backyard. XOXO Ted

Me & Eddie!!!
Eddie, Adopted April 2010
UPDATE FROM EDDIE'S MOM: Eddie has taken on a new role. He loves cuddling up to the clients I see for individual coaching. Sits under their chair in my office the whole session. The woman who came today said she could just see Eddie for therapy! Now that would pay for some dog food :) The therapy dog chewed up a shoe this morning. Guess he was taking out his own angst. But a very, very special and very smart dog indeed.
I found the greatest home with Judy & Ed. I am so special just because I am a great dog, and also because I am WROC's 100th adoption in less than 2 years. I am the most happy go lucky Westie that ever was. Take a look at Rescue Bobbie - he came home with us with us too! We are a really happy family. Thank you WROC. So many Westie Hugs & Kisses, Eddie
FAST EDDIE'S ORIGINAL STORY: I landed in the shelter and my owners never came for me. Unbelievable because I am just about the cutest most fun Westie boy that you can imagine. I love to play and play - there is nothing better than a game of chase with all the Westies chasing me. They call me Fast Eddie for a reason!!! I am a single white male, 1-2 years old, fit at 18 pounds, no tattoos, but I am sporting a microchip and I am current on all my shots. I love walks in the park, great food, but my all time favorite is WROC's Westie Diet with Highlander Hash on top. I like to socialize with other dogs; especially Westies, and I'm somewhat of the adventurous type! Are you looking for a great little man? If so, get that application in as soon as possible because a catch like me will not be on the market long! Love Eddie

How about you - ready for a great Westie girl like me? XOXOXO Cassie

My skin needs some attention, but WROC's people are the experts in that field - so I am in great hands. I am an 8 year old neutered male. I ride great in the car and walk well on a leash. I am getting a refresher course in housetraining, but I am a very smart boy and learning very quickly. My new name is Lacey and I was adopted by the most wonderful Mom ever, Patty. She asked for me specifically because she thought I was beautiful and the perfect dog for her. She was so right and we are very happy together. I have lost a little weight and am recovering very nicely from my knee surgery that WROC discovered I needed. Life is very very good. Please consider us seniors when you think about adopting. We are terrific companions and will love you unconditionally. Thank you WROC for my second chance. Sending Westie kisses, Lacey
MACEY'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Macey and I am a 10 year old female. I was relinquished to WROC because my owner could not care for me anymore. I am a bit over weight, but now that I am in WROC's care, I am eating their Westie Diet, tailored for my specific needs (low fat) with Highlander Hash on top and I am getting the exercise I need. I've also been diagnosed with 'dry eye' which means I don't produce natural tears, so I need drops in my eyes twice a day for the rest of my life. I am now current on all my shots, spayed and I am housetrained. I am a perfect little companion, very friendly to other dogs and humans alike - I give lots of kisses. I need a home that will have me groomed regularly, stick to my diet and give me daily walks. I am waiting patiently. Love, Macey
Dixie - Adopted February 2010
Just like to let you know, I love my new home. My new parents, Karen & Fred love me so much, they think I am just the sweetest thing there ever was. So I know that they will take very good care of me for the rest of my life. Mom and I go for a Walk every day, sometimes we go to the Park, or to an open Field across the Street where we live. I love our big yard and we play tag and fetch . I also discovered that there are several Bunnies that come to munch on the grass in the evening and early morning, I almost caught one but it was just a little faster then me. Yesterday Mom took me the Vet and everything is normal. He told my Mom that she did an exellent job on picking me. So I would like to thank you and all the wonderful people at Westie Rescue for finding me a great forever home! Hugs and Kisses, Dixie
DIXIE'S ORGINAL STORY: My name is Dixie and I am a very healthy spayed female, approximately 2 years old and weigh 20 pounds. I waited in the shelter for my owners but they never came. My rescue angel came to my aid and brought me to WROC. Thank you Linda!!! I was matted, and my toenails were very long, but that didn't last long at all. I had a bath and blow dry and WROC worked on me for hours and saved my beautiful coat! I am current on all my shots and I am microchipped. I am eating good here and there are lots of toys! I am looking for my very own lap to sit on and someone that will love me forever. Patiently waiting,
Dixie

I sleep very well in my crate and I get along great with
the foster and resident Westies here. I have recently been neutered and just had my teeth cleaned and they are sparkling! I am current on all my shots and have been microchipped. Love Dewey
Hi everyone, Max here. I was adopted by Susan and Tony. My new Mom is very patient and loving and is teaching me all about house manners!! I really like Schnauzer Gino & Westie Becka - we are quite the pack of terriers. Thank you WROC and Nancy for sending me to this wonderful family. Sending happy & playful kisses, Max
MAX'S ORIGINAL STORY: Hi there, my name is Max. I was living in northern California and my owner decided that I needed more care and attention, so naturally she called WROC. She arranged for my transport to Southern California in a luxury RV, can you believe it? My driver Dave was just great and he managed me, 2 Pitbulls that belonged to an Oakland Raider football player, a poodle on his way to Arizona and a monkey on his way to a wildlife reserve. Honestly, what a Westie will go through to get to WROC, but it was all worth it because I am loving my new digs. If you are an active family who would love a playful little guy like me, send in your application. I would love a Westie brother or sister! XOXO Max
I was adopted by Kristina, Joe, and WROC's Westie McGuyver (he is on the left & I am on the right). These folks really know their Westies and they chose very special me to join their family. I am really happy here and I like hanging out on the couch with Mac! Do not tell Mom, but I am my Daddy's little girl!! Much love and many Westie Kisses, Pips
Tiffy's Original Story: My name is Tiffany, (Tiffy to my friends) and I am 6 years old (DOB 11/04/03). I am spayed and have all my shots. I came to WROC because my owners moved away. I am fun, active and outgoing little girl. I ride great in the car, walk well on a leash and was a dream at the groomer. I feel much better now and am thoroughly enjoying myself with all the other Westies here. I am now getting daily walks which I was not getting before and am on a strict diet to help me restore my girlish figure. I have been to WROC's vet and I have 'dry eye' which will require eye drops daily since I do not produce natural tears. I am recovering from some neglect of the condition, but I will be good as new and ready for my new home in no time. I am a cutie and am looking forward to my new life adventure! Westie Love & Kisses, Tiffy

Hi, it's me Wally and I am here to tell you I love my new Mom & Dad, Pam & Bill. My new sister Molly is great too - I have her running around the house like a puppy. Life is great - I can see, I have my forever home with a family that really knows how to take care of cute little me (that's what everyone says!!), and I tell everyone exactly how I feel (Mom says I cannot quit talking!) Thank you WROC and everyone who donated for my cataract surgery. I love you all, Wally
WALLY'S UPDATE AFTER SURGERY: Everyone at Westie Rescue of Orange County and I want to thank all my fans and supporters. Because of all of you, I had my cataract surgery. Dr Brinkis and the staff at Eye Care for Animals in Tustin, California, were just wonderful. They said I was one of the best little patients they had ever had. It has taken about 6 weeks, but my recovery is just about complete.
My eyes are good now - I saw a crow sitting on top of a light pole and I barked so hard, all of my four feet came off the ground - it really felt good!! And then I saw myself in the mirrored door - WOW, what a good looking Westie - I barked at myself and then felt a little silly. I am now ready for my forever home. I will need eye drops twice a day for the rest of my life, but it is so worth it because I can see. I am waiting for my very own forever family. Having so much fun watching the squirrels with love & anticipation, Wally
Wally's Original Story: Hi, Wally here. My name is short for William Wallace - Braveheart, you know. The shelter called WROC because they knew from previous experience that WROC is famous for their successful work with Westie skin issues and I need a little help with my skin and coat.
So WROC's amazing associates Nicole & Karin and Jim & Linda jumped in their cars and caravaned me across California to Westie Rescue of Orange County. Thank you all for your help!!!

My dreams really did come true. I am living the life in Huntington Beach, California with my new family, Mom & Dad, Ann & Tom, and human sister Christina. I get lots of walks and playtime. My family thinks that I am very special, but then all of us Westies are extra special. Thank you WROC for my second chance - I am forever grateful. Love Kenny
KENNY'S ORIGINAL STORY: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH WROC! Whew, I am just in from the shelter and so happy that I will spend Christmas in my wonderful foster home. It is my Christmas dream come true - home for the holidays!!! Thank goodness the shelter called WROC to come and bail me out. Special thanks to Barbara for coming to my rescue. I need some TLC for my coat and skin, but WROC will have me healed in no time because they specialize in skin care. I am looking and feeling better already!! I am a 15 pound, neutered, approximately 4-5 years old male and I have all my shots. I am a happy go lucky kind of guy and really like all the other Westies here. Look for more information about cute little me shortly. XOXO Kenny

I was adopted by Nina & Jim and my Westie sister, Zoe. She was not crazy about me at first, but to know me is to love me and she came around. I am a very happy Westie - I love my new home. Thank you WROC for taking such good care of me and finding this perfect home! XOXO Andy
ANDY'S ORIGINAL STORY: My name is Andy and I am brand new to Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond. Since my family moved to California, our lives have changed in many unexpected ways. My mom is going to medical school and did not want me to suffer with her school schedule and very long hours studying. She called several rescue organizations and they all recommended WROC. So her decision was easy, she brought me to WROC because she knew I would get the
very best care. And boy, am I glad she did because I am having a grand time!!!

My very special family drove all the way from Arizona just for me. Mom & Dad, Debbie & Bill, treat me great and they spoil me. I really like that - I already sleep in the big bed!! I got to spend a little time with my Golden sister Bailey before she crossed the bridge. I know that I was meant for Mom & Dad - it is my job to make them happy! Thank you WROC for saving me and giving this wonderful new home. XOXO Cailey
KAILEY'S ORGINAL STORY: My name is Kailey and I am a spayed 15 lb female that is approximately 3-4 years old. Two very special angels came to my rescue. They picked me up from a high kill shelter, bathed me 3 times and gave me lots of toys to play with for our long trip to Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond. Thank you Tami & Greg!!!
Immediately, I showed them how sweet, gentle, fun and playful I am. I am very smart too, I know how to use the doggie door and I have already chosen my favorite spot on top of the sofa! I am being fostered with other resident Westies, and I love them all!
WROC's expert groomer, Karen. worked on me for 5 hours, combing out all my knots and I was ever so patient. She saved my beautiful coat and I turned out very pretty, don't you think?
I get lots of hugs and kisses here and things are swell, but a family of my own that will watch over me, love me and care for me is a girl's dream come true. I am waiting for your application, so get it in to these great folks so I can go home with you. Love Kailey
My Christmas dream came true - I have the most wonderful family, Mom & Dad, Lindsay & Scott, Westie sisters Lola & Lexie, and 2 Jacks, Dixie & Rex. We are quite the sight to see, racing around the house, playing in the yard, and walking in the park. My new Dad thinks that I am very special - I am his little princess!! Thank you WROC for this new beginning. Much love and wet Westie Kisses, Pinkie
EVE'S ORIGINAL STORY, A VERY SPECIAL CHRISTMAS EVE WESTIE FOR WROC:
My mom fell victim to these hard economic times, and when she lost her job, car and now our home, she did not want me to spend Christmas homeless. This was a very hard decision to make and a great act of selflessness to relinquish me to Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyond. WROC picked me up on Christmas Eve and immediately took me to the vet to get current on all my shots. My stocking was hung on the fireplace and it was filled with squeaky toys and I cannot stop playing. A girl can never have too many toys!
I just turned two (DOB 11/23/07), I am very fun, active, 10.5 lbs and will be spayed after the holidays. I am looking forward to starting the New Year with my very own family. Merry Christmas, Eve
